Apple fanboys (and girls) are giddy after the company said tihs morning that it will unveil details about three new software products at WWDC next week. One of those products is iOS 5, which is expected to be upgraded with better notifications and widgets. But I think the most interesting possibility is that Apple will license voice recognition technology from Nuance and integrate it with the new operating system. Voice recognition has been overhyped and underwhelming for years, but the technology may finally be good enough for mass-market adoption. If Apple opts to support it in a big way with iOS 5, it would boost usage in a huge way.
