Today in Mobile
Apple began selling its iPad 2 today, and the inevitable media hype is at full-throttle. ComputerWorld is already reporting shipping delays “as immediate supplies vanished,” and Mashable documents a New York woman who sold her spot in line at an Apple Store for $900. But the hype in mobile is often unwarranted, the buzz surrounding the new tablet is more or less justified: Apple already dominates the market it single-handedly created, and the new gadget will only solidify its lead in the emerging space. Just ask IDC, which predicts Apple will maintain a market share of 70 percent to 80 percent this year even as dozens of competing devices come to market.
