Looks like Target may be aiming to assume the mantle of eReader retail king. The retailer, which started carrying the Kindle in April, is now going to be an iPad retailer. Target is perhaps the best discounter outside of Costco to reach the early-mass market and upper middle class demographic that is the iPad sweet spot at this point, so this looks to be a smart move by both Apple and Target. Amazon’s next move should be to move the Kindle to Walmart, especially at the new lower prices, and start pushing hard into the senior market.
