Today in Mobile

Apple today continues to feel the fallout from the iPhone 4 design flaw, with Gizmodo reporting that the update may address the cosmetic problem of inaccurate bar displays but will do nothing to actually improve reception. The kind folks in Cupertino are falling back to their initial strategy of telling users that they’re holding the phone wrong, and suggesting customers buy a $30 bumper that covers the gap that seems to be causing so many problems for users. But Apple could make this whole PR nightmare go away by giving the bumpers away free to users who are having problems with their pricey new handsets. That’s a pricey solution, to be sure, but it would be a great way for the company to put this ugly little mess behind them.
