Nokia is planning to announce an ARM-based tablet in the fourth quarter of 2010, a Digitimes Research senior analyst said this morning. The gadget will likely use the MeeGo operating system that is based largely on the preceding Maemo OS, which was created specifically for tablets as well as smartphones. Now that Apple’s iPad has proven that a viable market for tablets really exists, Nokia has a chance to tap that market if it can produce a solid piece of hardware with a top-notch operating system. That’s a big “if,” I know, but Nokia has to find hope where it can.
