Today in Mobile
Apple said it moved 300,000 iPads Saturday, but we’re still a long way from knowing whether Apple really has a hit on its hands. Forrester Research, for instance, is predicting Apple will sell about 3 million units this year, while iSuppli’s optimistic forecast has more than 7 million iPads flying off the shelves this year. But it’s absolutely clear that iPad users are voracious consumers of mobile data, as evidenced by the 250,000 books and more than 1 million apps that were delivered to the device over the weekend. The iPad may never realize the kind of sky-high projections analysts have offered, but there’s no question that the gadget is a powerful new platform for mobile data.
