InformationWeek has a nice article today recapping a recent CIO survey about cloud computing. While I generally take survey results with a grain of salt, this one’s qualitative approach — actually interviewing CIOs and other decisionmakers — provides for relatively trustworthy results. There is nothing quite like hearing the rationale behind spending forecasts to gauge whether they will come true. Additionally, this survey comes at a time when cloud computing, in all its forms, is being taken far more seriously across the board. Cloud providers and vendors are doing a lot to make CIOs realize it’s no joke.
