Google is hoping to steal the thunder — and the users — of services such as Twitter, Facebook, Foursquare and Yelp with Buzz, a new social networking offering that promises to be everything social for connected consumers. The service has a mobile component, naturally, and allows users to share photos, videos and other content. Google has long failed to crack the social-networking nut, and there’s no reason to believe Buzz will take off when there are so many other compelling services on the market with sizable user bases. But Google’s scale alone should be enough to terrify all those smaller guys.
