Add Acer to the ever-growing list of manufacturers who are shifting their focus from Microsoft’s Windows Mobile to Google’s Android. At least half the company’s 2010 handsets will run Android, according to a Digitimes report. The news follows similar strategies from Motorola and Palm, and comes on the heels of news that HTC’s upcoming Touch HD 2 will eschew WinMo entirely in favor of Android. It’s still too early to stick a fork in Windows Mobile, but it’s clear that most OEMs believe Android is the future.
